ANKORU
- AN by audionote
An amplifier costing a fortune , for what ?
silver wound output transformer ( i think i confuse with ongaku ) ? The chinese 845's ?
its a nice amp , no electrolytics are bypassed though , the 300B is cathode biased and capacitor coupled from iuts driver , they used interstage coupling to the 845 , they had no other choice if they wanted to be able to drive it properly .
the high voltage is nicely high for the 845's , tougher to drive and with 360volts only on the plate of the 300B - its cathode voltage
only 300volts left , it is not easy to drive and my guess is that the 300B will clip before the 845's .
the heater supplys have smoothing of current peaks , and on a positive note , all is tube rectified for the high voltages
The powersupply has lots of caps in series of small value ( for such a power amp )
The parallelling of the outputstage , makes the transformer choice easier .
